WHERE: CHIRAIGAON

September 2014, kamerakidz reached a new state and region of India: Uttar Pradesh. There, in the Ganga plain, the project took place in a little village called Chiraigaon, around 15 km north-eastwards from Varanasi and even closer, approximately 7 km, to the famous Buddhist pilgrim place Sarnath. Coming from the crowded city Varanasi, the rural place Chiraigaon with its 5000-6000 inhabitants offers a pleasant, peaceful and calm atmosphere.

It’s a very green, agricultural area, with a lot of huge paddy fields, papaya and banana trees, blooming jasmine and cinnamon, roses and hibiscus… Another daily sight: You see cows and buffalos everywhere, nearly every household has some. They are trudging leisurely along the street or are lying in front of the brick-red houses… In the surroundings of Chiraigaon there are several brick yards, their chimneys tower above the landscape.
