HOW: 2013 IN ZANSKAR
The biggest change in 2013 was, that we had an exhibition in a german school in the beginning of the year and these students became so interessted in the life of the Zanskaris, that they started penfriendships and exchange of games, songs, photos etc. With this the Zanskaris had a real opposite group and another idea to whom they wanted to show their lifestyle. Before they did mostly static portraits of each other, but now their photos of themselves and their friends became much more vivid and nicer to look at.
In the summer they started to organise themselves on their own with their teacher Mr. Nawang Thardot, who had a laptop und could store the photos. So when I came back in September, I was surprised with lots of interessting new pictures. For sure we still continued with a photoclass, a camera walking from hand to hand in class 8 and phototrips in a Tata Mobile, which was filled up with as many students as possible. The children had a very good understanding now of photography and we filled up our archive with more documentary pics.
