SIKKIM

Sikkim became our third main-destination in India. After 2 years Ladakh in the indian West-Himalaya it was more then overdue to get engaged with the eastern part of the indian Himalayas. A short visit in 1995 as well as a longer trip to Darjeeling and Kalimpong in the year 2000 (incl. Singalila-Trekking) were the first contacts with the youngest state of India (1975 it joined), in which the travelling is not really easy. With Nepal, China (or better said Tibet) and Bhutan as direct neighbours it is located in a political volatile corner, which is not dangerous for us travellers, but which ahs rules and regulations. One needs a special permit (up to one month, not complicate to get) and for some areas (North-Sikkim, East-Sikkim at the tibetan border) and trekking-tours other permits on top of that. Also for some places one isn’t allowed to travel alone as a western person (just in pairs/groups).

These requirements are managed with routine by the local agency. After that heartily hospitality, friendly, interesting encounters, rich culture and breathtaking landscape is waiting for you!

Sikkim is a small region, which is best to discover slowly. Unfortunatly one is forced to a leisurely pace due to bad roads (monsoon and winter take their toll), which is best to continue while using the own feet as often as possible. Next to the awsome trekkings Sikkim offers a plenty of walks and day-treks on which one has good time to enjoy the big variety of flora and nice encounters with people.

We like to organise your individual trip to Sikkim!

BHUTAN

Sikkim can be travelled very nicely in combination with Bhutan. We work together with the agency Bhutan Homestay, which is creating their tours similar to ours. Also we know and appriciate each other in private – a good pluspoint. If you are interested in a combi-tour, please connect to us or Ulrike Cokl of Bhutan Homestays – we will prepare a suiting offer for you!
